Leadership Vancouver Island & Destination Imagination

December 8, 2016

It’s been a busy month at PMV, and one filled with learning.

Early this month, we were contacted by Leadership Vancouver Island (LVI), a community focused, yearlong leadership development program inspiring and building capacity for outstanding leadership, learning and service.

LVI participants get together each month for a day of learning covering different topics, and over the course of the program teams work together to complete projects in the community. We ferried over from Vancouver to Nanaimo for their most recent learning day, and we are now offering insights and guidance in managing projects for Nonprofits, and a PMV volunteer is also serving as an advisor to LVI teams as they work on different community projects over the next six months.

Then later in the month, PMV attended another training session, this one held by Destination Imagination, a leading educational Nonprofit dedicated to teaching students the skills needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond with project-based learning programs blending STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with the arts and social entrepreneurship. We joined more than 20 teachers for an entertaining and educational day of discussion, and look forward to sharing more time with them again soon.
