Founded in 1959, CMHA Vernon & District has been saving and changing lives while improving mental health in our community. CMHA provides programs and services for individuals and families of all ages across the spectrum of mental health with approximately 600 people monthly receiving support, education and rehabilitation.
Our programs serve a diverse population in our community, from youth aged 7, to seniors 75+ providing affordable and supportive housing, social enterprise employment programs, life skills training, peer support and mental wellness education via telephone and in-group settings. CMHA Vernon provides and maintains 144 units of affordable housing for more than 220 residents, operates several social enterprises including The Georgette Thrift Shop, and recycling and landscape programs, provides educational programs to youth and adult community members, answers more than 5,500 calls on the Crisis Line, and prepares and serves more than 6,400 meals in our nutrition programs.
The Canadian Mental Health Association (Vernon & District Branch) is a voluntary association that exists to promote Mental Wellness in the community of Vernon, and surrounding areas in the North Okanagan. It is part of a provincial and national organization. We believe in enabling individuals, groups, and communities to increase control over, and to enhance their mental health.

Project Description: Information Technology Program
The Vernon Branch of the CMHA has 51 full-time and part-time staff working at four different sites in the Vernon and surrounding area. They have a small Information Technology group that has a number of initiatives and projects planned for the 2019 year, including Office 365 Migration, Windows 10 Migration, Hardware/Software Inventory, Computer Replacement program, Branding initiative plus others. They require a Project Manager to support them in the development of an integrated Program plan of these planned initiatives plus the provision of project management services for some of the individual project initiatives.
Location: Vernon, BC
- Upgrade to current/supported levels of various hardware and software of the organization’s information technology with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations
- Improvement of overall staff efficiencies
- 5 years of IT project management experience.
- Desktop software migration project experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of change management planning and execution
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Experience with not-for-profit sector is desirable
Estimated Time Commitment:
Expected effort is 4 hours/week which may fluctuate depending on the phases of the different projects.
Start Date: March 4, 2019.
Expected Completion Date: May 31, 2019
Scope of Work:
- PM will lead IT team to develop the IT Program plan
- PM will develop individual project plans and oversee project execution.
- Initial Program Charter
- Program Plan to include at minimum;
- Resource Requirements (staff, contractors)
- High Level Schedule
- Individual Project Plans
- Testing Plans
- Training Plans.
- Ongoing monitoring of project execution
Accountability: The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to the Human Resources and Operations Manager.
Benefits: The Human Resources and Operations Manager will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project and serve as a reference if appropriate.
