PROJECT MANAGER: Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre Facility Redevelopment

Organization’s Mission:

Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre is a non-profit and charitable organization providing a gathering place, recreational activities, and social services for seniors in North Vancouver.  Our mission is to support and encourage the well-being of adults 55 plus.  We offer more than 70 different activities including physical fitness, sports, arts, games, languages, computers, special events, outings, and informative workshops.  We also provide a number of important services such as legal advice, low-cost meals, affordable clothing and household goods, and transportation.  In addition, we offer many volunteer opportunities for people of all ages.  Silver Harbour is governed by a committed Board and operated by a dedicated staff team and a large number of volunteers.

Project Objectives:

  • To research and organize existing research on programming and space needs in a new facility for Silver Harbour
  • To support the engagement of Silver Harbour members and participants in the facility planning process

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a leadership role as a project manager
  • Past experience in similar projects preferred (seniors’ services, public engagement, change management, facility planning/design)

Estimated Time Commitment:  12 hours per month

Start Date: mid-December 2017 or early January 2018

Expected Completion Date: August 2018

Scope of Work:

  • Research:
    • Collate and organize existing research on facility redevelopment
    • Refine additional research questions and complete research, e.g. identify best practices used elsewhere, and create, execute, and analyze mini-surveys of subsets of Silver Harbour members and participants
  • Engagement:
    • Develop a strategy for engaging Silver Harbour members and participants in identifying their concerns and priorities around programming, space, and operating principles in a new facility
    • Support outreach to members (e.g. meetings, informational mailouts) and collect and collate feedback

Deliverables:

  • Collated research documents on facility redevelopment
  • Membership/participant engagement strategy and collated feedback

Accountability: The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to Annwen Loverin, Executive Director, Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre

Benefits: Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project, and serve as a reference if appropriate.
