Volunteer as a Project Manager

Ready to Rent : Curriculum Production Template

Organisation: Ready to Rent

Location: Victoria, BC

Closing Date: May 14, 2018

Organization’s Mission:

To deliver housing education and related services

Ready to Rent’s vision is community well being through housing education and support. Ready to Rent BC was founded by a group of citizens and service-related agencies in the Victoria region that came together to find solutions for unstably housed and homeless families. Their first course was piloted in 2009, and Ready to Rent BC (R2R) was incorporated in 2011. Since then, R2R has been steadily expanding their RentSmart model to meet the need for pro-active solutions that increase housing stability and prevent homelessness. RentSmart provides education that builds the skills, knowledge and confidence of participants while respecting them as adult learners through engaged and participatory curriculum.

Project Objectives: Ready to Rent delivers education about renting in four provinces through a network of 400 educators. To do this, curriculum is developed and updated regularly. This project is about developing a process and template for new and existing curriculum production. The process will be tested with a new course being developed.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management (At least 3 years)
  • Past experience in designing processes and strategic planning
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Expected Start Date: June 1, 2018

The Volunteer PM will work with Ready to Rent’s curriculum team to develop and document a process for the development and production of curriculum materials including research, testing, writing, editing, graphic design and layout, printing and distribution. The Volunteer PM will meet with key staff involved in the process to understand the working environment and current approach. Based on this review the Volunteer PM will prepare a plan on how s/he proposes to develop the template together with the team. The Volunteer PM will present this to the Ready to Rent team for comment and implementation.

Based on this plan 1) a template will be developed, 2) the template will be used and tested in conjunction with a new curriculum being developed by Ready to Rent. At a designated point, the Volunteer PM will meet with the Ready to Rent Team for feedback on the template and any final edits identified.
