To promote the well-being of the Collingwood community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community’s social, educational, economic, health, cultural and recreational needs.

Project Summary

CNH has embarked on an effort to introduce more project management knowledge and experience to some of their staff. These people will attend PMV’s “Introduction to Project Management for Nonprofits” workshop at the beginning of March, and will then start applying what they have learned to a small project, part of their daily tasks. We are seeking 1-2 Volunteer Project Management Advisors, who will regularly be available to provide guidance, answer questions, review the work, and increase the project management knowledge of the participating staff.

Project Objectives

  • Increase the project management knowledge of the participating staff.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years practical experience in project management, with successful projects completion track record
  • Experience in coaching would be an asset
  • Experience in the nonprofit world would be an asset
  • Capability to tailor project management to the requirements of the project at hand
  • Excellent communication skills.

Estimated Time Commitment

Two hours presence at the Collingwood Neighbourhood House (near the Joyce-Collingwood Skytrain station) every 2 weeks, during working hours. Available to answer questions via email, phone or Skype (all to be mutually agreed).

Start Date: Beginning of March 2020                                                            End Date: End of August 2020  (~6 months duration)

Scope of Work

If possible, attend the ½ day workshop PMV will conduct at CNH at the beginning of March. Schedule face to face time with the assigned project management trainees during the predetermined presence periods at CNH every 2 weeks. Max load for each advisor will be ~4 trainees. Review project progress, provide tips and advice tailored to the trainee, fill in gaps in knowledge, etc.


The volunteer advisor will report to Suzanne Liddle, Director of Community Services, at CNH.


CNH will provide a letter of recommendation to the volunteer advisor at the successful conclusion of the project, and serve as a reference if appropriate.
