DASH collaborates with schools and other partners to create, facilitate and support school communities to be optimal places for health and learning through a Comprehensive School Health approach.

Project Summary

DASH is acting as a delivery partner with Vancouver and North Vancouver school districts, municipals/ funding and other delivery partners to be part of the walking school bus pilot project. To ensure a successful uptake of the walking school bus pilot programs the pilot was initiated in early 2021 involving all parties to utilize their existing networks and connections in the region to solicit organizational and financial partners to assist with the operation of these programs.
DASH has collaborated with some selected schools to implement the early concepts choosing different methodologies as part of this initiative. DASH is planning to implement walking school bus pilot program for the remaining pilot schools based on the experience made so far and the requirements of the schools in 2022 to be completed by June.

Project Objectives

DASH needs assistance to support implementing the pilot program for the remaining schools in the most efficient way, considering best practice and experience so far for the selected schools.

• Strong coordination and strategic planning skills.
• Critical thinking and problem solving to establish priorities and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to set priorities and manage multiple activities in a changing environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to converse with various stakeholders.
• Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities.
• Adaptability and ability to work well with groups.
• Some knowledge about the local/school community is desired.

Estimated Time Commitment

10-15 hours per month

 Start Date:    January 17 2022

 End Date:      June 30 2022

 Scope of Work

 The volunteer project manager will be responsible for:

Implement walking school bus pilot program for the remaining pilot schools considering the best practice and level of efficiency.

 Deliverables 

• Conduct lessons learned.
• Develop a list of requirements for the selected schools.
• Define project scope, success criteria and desired outcome.
• Define tasks and required resources.
• Create schedule and project timeline.
• Ensure successful execution of the implementation plan.
• Address any issues and changes that might arise during the project.
• Present to stakeholders’ reports on progress as well as problems and solutions.
• Keep track of overall progress and the accomplishment
• Monitor and assign resources appropriately to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs.
• Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate stakeholders as needed.
• Follow PM- Volunteers guidance and service agreement.

The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to Faye Faye Willick,

Benefits

The PM volunteer will provide leadership to meet DASH’s objectives. The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to Faye Willick, Executive Director.
Benefit, DASH will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project and serve as a reference if appropriate.

Additional Information

  • We may proceed with interviewing and engaging applicants before the application deadline.  
  • We may consider a team approach of a senior/junior project manager. We encourage junior project managers who are interested in acquiring experience to apply. Any such arrangement will be contingent on agreement by the client and the applicants.
