POSITION – VOLUNTEER PROJECT MANAGER 

Organization Mission 

ACCESS Youth is a small Not for Profit Organization in Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody). The ACCESS group of volunteers and programs focuses on providing support to youth (ages 12-23). They run a mobile drop-in center (“the bus”), have a presence in Coquitlam Centre Mall, have a Youth Empowerment Worker (YEW) and run a youth employment support program.

The group strives to provide youth with support for self-improvement, their relationships with peers, school, community and most importantly their families. 

Using a combination of mentorship, skills training, crisis management and career opportunities programs, ACCESS Youth addresses the ongoing issues youth (ages 12-23) are facing in our shared communities. 

 ACCESS Youth’s is in need to enhance the four core programs of the organization with the following:

  • Complimentary workshops
  • Expanding territory of bus program in Tri Cities and beyond
  • Create after school partnerships and programs.

Project Summary 

Starting from the current Strategic Plan, work with the team to identify and agree on changes and generate the revised Strategic Plan.

Project Objectives 

  • Coordinate with the core team members and understand the current workflow of the organization.

  • Review the current strategic plan and discuss with the group on how to revise the plan to better meet the organization’s needs.

  • Provide ideas on how to set goals with manageable timelines and also to enhance the core programs.

  • Provide suggestions to improve the current processes.
  • Document all the findings and recommendations in an updated strategic plan which can be used by the organization for future planning.

Required Qualifications 

  • Min 5 years practical project management experience
  • Diploma or degree in business or communications
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with not-for-profit sector would be an asset

Estimated Time Commitment 

Expected effort is 5-10 hours/month, which may fluctuate

Start Date: Jan 20, 2020

End Date: April 15, 2020

Deliverables 

Revised Strategic Plan for use by Access Youth Board Members.

Accountability 

The PM volunteer will communicate with the project sponsor via email or telephone discussion on agreed schedule to provide project updates and discuss project matters. He/She will have an end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to the Sponsor, Vishad Deeplaul

Benefits 

The organization will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project and serve as a reference if appropriate.
